Day 3 of Godly Wisdom: Selfless and Servant Leadership

Choosing to serve, not to rule. Choosing to lead with fairness and justice. That is the transformative wisdom of God. Just like Jesus, choose servanthood over status. Choose selfless service over the pursuit of power. Choose to see those you are called to lead not as the least, but as the people you are called to serve. Do not seek power, fame, or influence. Seek to be used for God's purpose through you.

Unlike the worldly norm of dominant leadership—where power is used to control and exploit rather than to care, as seen in homes, businesses, communities, religions, and governments. The wisdom we learn from Jesus, who walked the earth as a teacher, healer, and servant, reveals what God truly expects of us.

Jesus didn’t lead by force. He led by example. He didn’t demand loyalty. He earned trust. He didn’t seek status. He chose service. When people sought to make him King, he opposed the idea and withdrew.

He washed feet. He fed the hungry. He healed the sick. He welcomed the outsider. He stood up for the vulnerable. He opposed corrupt systems—not with polarization and spreading fear or falsehoods, but through compassion and divine truth.

When a woman caught in adultery was brought to Jesus to be stoned to death, he responded with grace. He said, “Let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone,” and continued writing on the ground. One by one, her accusers left. Jesus then asked her, “Where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She replied, “They’re gone.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.

Who are called to be servant leaders?

Everyone. We are all called to be selfless—not to chase fame or influence at the expense of others. We are called to serve, to use our voices and votes wisely, and to reject falsehood and division. Most importantly, we must not idolize fame—for doing so is no different from idol worship. Jesus warns us not to be deceived by fame, greatness, or riches. Instead, He calls us to pursue righteousness, humility, and selfless service.

  • Parents who guide with patience and love.
  • Husbands who put their wives and children first.
  • Teachers who shape minds with care.
  • Community members who build bridges, not walls.
  • Colleagues who mentor with generosity.
  • Public servants who govern with integrity.
  • Leaders who serve and protect the dignity of all people.
  • Faith leaders who use faith faithfully—not as a tool for manipulation and exploitation. Those who lead with humility, not with self-centered ambition. The servants who guide people to become disciples of Jesus alone, not to build empires for themselves.

What does radical servant leadership look like today?

  • Refusing to exploit others for personal gain.
  • Leading with integrity, even when no one is watching.
  • Giving credit, not taking it.
  • Protecting the vulnerable, not preying on them.
  • Seek not to be followed, seek to be faithful.
  • Using influence to heal, not to harm.
  • Being faithful in the small things, not just flashy in the big ones.

Reflection

Tap into the timeless Godly wisdom—lessons that speak to the heart, challenge the mind, and inspire lasting transformation.

We are not called to dominate; we are called to serve humbly.
Jesus made it clear: “Whoever wants to be first must be willing to be last.”

Let’s unlearn our defaults of selfishness.
Let’s choose to be radically human.
And let God alone be God—to whom all power belongs.

Today, choose humility over pride.
Choose service over status.
Choose compassionate love over personal gain.
